Beauty Q&A’s: Do Lip Plumpers Work?

Beauty Q&A’s is a new section on the beauty blog where I will help answer some common and not so common beauty related questions that may arise. If you have any questions just email me at email @ meowx.org. All questions will remain anonymous unless you request not to be.

The first Q & A is do lip plumpers really work?

Basically lip plumpers work by irritating the surface of the lip using ingredients such as lactic acid, alpha-hydroxy acids or cinnamon which can make your lips swell up. From personal experience lip plumpers aren’t for everyone and different people have different reactions. Lip plumpers seem to work better for people who already have pump lips. Those with thin lips may not notice are big difference. For me, some can lip plumpers make my lips really red on the outside of my lips and feeling like it’s burning, while others there is a slight plumping effect, and any plumping that may occur only last for ½ an hour to 2 hours (depending on the brand). So basically they can work but it may not be for everyone. Best is to try a sample before buying and test different formulas. Sometimes the burning irritating feeling plumpers give you may not be worth the results. But just remember any effect is only temporary.

If you want to give lip plumpers a go try these (these are the only ones I found that worked well for me), my favourite are the Two Faced lip plumpers :
