You have about 100,000 hairs on your head. If you’re a redhead, your count might be a little bit lower at 90,000, while black hairs gets up to 110,000 and some blondes could have as many as 140,000.
Hair grows about 12cm a year. It grows even faster in warm weather and during pregnancy. One hair can stay on your head for up to seven years.
Genetics have much more of a role to play than stress in the development of grey and white hair.
Everyone loses some hair every day. Usually around 40 to 100 strands of hair fall out per day.
Cutting your hair won’t make it grow faster, but a gentle scalp massage can increase blood circulation to hair follicles, and may stimulate a little extra growth.
